1821 Flag of Gazis (Greece) Shot Glass 1.5oz

A stark white field carries a single large red Orthodox cross at its centre, with four smaller red crosses set in the corners, making this one of the most austere flags to come out of the Greek War of Independence.

Visual Elements & Composition

The design is built from only two colours: a saturated red at roughly a fifth of the field and clean white filling the rest. The large central cross is the dominant shape, symmetrical and upright, and the four corner crosses echo it at a reduced scale so the eye moves from the centre outward. There is no lettering or numerals. The flat geometry reads well at a glance, and the contrast between the solid red and open white keeps the emblem crisp even when it is seen only briefly.

Meaning & Symbolism

The cross was the central religious emblem of the Orthodox faith that bound the Greek insurgents together, and its use on a revolutionary banner tied the struggle for independence to Christian identity. This flag was carried by Anthimos Gazis and his irregular forces in Thessaly, specifically Thessalomagnisia, from about 1821 to 1823. The arrangement of crosses also recalls the banner of Georgia, a reminder of the wider Orthodox world these fighters drew on.

Made for the Shot Glass

A shot glass is small and held close, so the emblem sits right at eye level as the glass is lifted. The bold red crosses on the white ground stay legible at that distance, and the central cross lines up neatly with the glass's vertical axis, so the design reads as a single image rather than a pattern.

Compact, heavy-based shot glasses made from clear, restaurant-grade glass. One standard size (1.5 oz / ≈44.3 ml) — sturdy, stack-friendly, and built to handle frequent service without fuss.

These shot glasses feel solid in the hand thanks to a thick, weighty base that keeps them steady on busy bar tops. The walls are even and clear, giving a nice, unobstructed view of the pour; the rim is smoothed for comfortable sipping.

They’re engineered for regular use: consistent dimensions, dependable weight, and a simple silhouette that suits both casual venues and more formal tasting counters. Designed to perform rather than show off.

  • Material: 100% clear glass for pure clarity and clean presentation.
  • Capacity: 1.5 oz (≈44.3 ml) — standard shot measure.
  • Base: heavy solid glass base that reduces tipping and improves balance.
  • Construction: restaurant-grade durability for frequent handling and washing.
  • Print-ready: suitable for single-sided print applications that withstand typical use.

Perfect for quick pours, samplers, and neat shots. Their compact footprint makes them easy to place on trays and tasting lines, while the heavier base keeps things steady during service.

  1. Bar service: quick, consistent pours — less wobble when carrying a tray of shots.
  2. Tastings: uniform size is handy for sampling flights or spirit tastings.
  3. Events: robust enough for pop-ups, festivals, and busy bartending shifts.

Storage tip: store upright and avoid tight stacking to protect rims and preserve clarity.

Dishwasher-safe for everyday cleaning — place on the top rack and use a normal household cycle. Repeated exposure to very high commercial temperatures can shorten glass life, so choose gentler programs where practical.

When you want to extend clarity and finish: hand-wash with warm water, a mild detergent, and a soft cloth; dry right away to avoid water spots. Handle by the body (not the rim) to reduce accidental chipping.

One size only: 1.5 oz (≈44.3 ml). Use the dimensions below for shelving, packaging, or tray planning.
