1821 Flag of Psara (Greece) Shot Glass 1.5oz

A red and white naval banner from the Greek War of Independence, Psara's flag packs a cross, an anchor, a spear and a serpent into one bold field under the words "Freedom or Death."

Visual Elements & Composition

Red and white split the design almost evenly, with the red taking a little over half. A red border frames a white field, and the emblems sit inside it in a single flat layer. The anchor, shown in red with a cross above it, is the largest and most dominant shape. A spear runs diagonally beside it, a serpent winds around the composition, and a bird is placed among the other figures. The Greek inscription sits across the field, reading ΕΛΕΥΘΕΡΙΑ Η ΘΑΝΑΤΟΣ, followed by ΨΑΡΑ, the name of the island.

Meaning & Symbolism

The flag belongs to Psara, a small island whose sailors fought in the Greek War of Independence from 1821. Its symbols came from the Filiki Eteria, the secret society that planned the revolution. The cross stands for the Orthodox faith, the anchor for hope and seafaring strength, the spear for the warrior tradition of ancient Greece, and the serpent and bird for the struggle and the freedom it sought. The inscription, "Freedom or Death," states the choice the insurgents made plainly.

Held Close on the Glass

A shot glass is small and lifted to eye level, so the inscription and the red anchor are read up close. The strong red and white contrast carries across the curve of the glass, and the anchor sits at the centre of the view as the glass is raised.

Compact, heavy-based shot glasses made from clear, restaurant-grade glass. One standard size (1.5 oz / ≈44.3 ml) — sturdy, stack-friendly, and built to handle frequent service without fuss.

These shot glasses feel solid in the hand thanks to a thick, weighty base that keeps them steady on busy bar tops. The walls are even and clear, giving a nice, unobstructed view of the pour; the rim is smoothed for comfortable sipping.

They’re engineered for regular use: consistent dimensions, dependable weight, and a simple silhouette that suits both casual venues and more formal tasting counters. Designed to perform rather than show off.

  • Material: 100% clear glass for pure clarity and clean presentation.
  • Capacity: 1.5 oz (≈44.3 ml) — standard shot measure.
  • Base: heavy solid glass base that reduces tipping and improves balance.
  • Construction: restaurant-grade durability for frequent handling and washing.
  • Print-ready: suitable for single-sided print applications that withstand typical use.

Perfect for quick pours, samplers, and neat shots. Their compact footprint makes them easy to place on trays and tasting lines, while the heavier base keeps things steady during service.

  1. Bar service: quick, consistent pours — less wobble when carrying a tray of shots.
  2. Tastings: uniform size is handy for sampling flights or spirit tastings.
  3. Events: robust enough for pop-ups, festivals, and busy bartending shifts.

Storage tip: store upright and avoid tight stacking to protect rims and preserve clarity.

Dishwasher-safe for everyday cleaning — place on the top rack and use a normal household cycle. Repeated exposure to very high commercial temperatures can shorten glass life, so choose gentler programs where practical.

When you want to extend clarity and finish: hand-wash with warm water, a mild detergent, and a soft cloth; dry right away to avoid water spots. Handle by the body (not the rim) to reduce accidental chipping.

One size only: 1.5 oz (≈44.3 ml). Use the dimensions below for shelving, packaging, or tray planning.
