1949 Malaya Flag Proposal 2 (Malaysia) Shot Glass 1.5oz

The second of the 1949 Malayan proposals sets two crossed red kris on a dark blue field, with eleven white stars arranged in two concentric rings.

Visual Elements & Composition

The dark blue field is the backdrop for the whole design. The two red kris cross at the centre and give the image its focal point. Around them, the stars are split between an inner ring of five and an outer ring of six, so the eye moves from the crossed blades outward through two layers of points. Red appears only in the kris, and the flat vector drawing keeps the stars and blades sharp and easy to read at small size.

Meaning & Symbolism

The inner ring of five stars stood for the Unfederated Malay States, and the outer ring of six stood for the four Federated States and the two Settlements. The kris represent the antiquity and identity of the Malayan archipelago. The design was one of three finalists in a 1949 national competition. The third entry was chosen and later revised to become the official flag of Malaya in 1950, so this proposal stands as a record of the debate that shaped the final emblem.

A Star Ring for the Shot Glass

A shot glass is small and held close, so the two star rings sit right in front of the eye as the glass is lifted. The crossed kris fall at the centre of the glass, where they stay in view when the drink is tipped, making the piece a compact, detailed talking point for the home bar.

Compact, heavy-based shot glasses made from clear, restaurant-grade glass. One standard size (1.5 oz / ≈44.3 ml) — sturdy, stack-friendly, and built to handle frequent service without fuss.

These shot glasses feel solid in the hand thanks to a thick, weighty base that keeps them steady on busy bar tops. The walls are even and clear, giving a nice, unobstructed view of the pour; the rim is smoothed for comfortable sipping.

They’re engineered for regular use: consistent dimensions, dependable weight, and a simple silhouette that suits both casual venues and more formal tasting counters. Designed to perform rather than show off.

  • Material: 100% clear glass for pure clarity and clean presentation.
  • Capacity: 1.5 oz (≈44.3 ml) — standard shot measure.
  • Base: heavy solid glass base that reduces tipping and improves balance.
  • Construction: restaurant-grade durability for frequent handling and washing.
  • Print-ready: suitable for single-sided print applications that withstand typical use.

Perfect for quick pours, samplers, and neat shots. Their compact footprint makes them easy to place on trays and tasting lines, while the heavier base keeps things steady during service.

  1. Bar service: quick, consistent pours — less wobble when carrying a tray of shots.
  2. Tastings: uniform size is handy for sampling flights or spirit tastings.
  3. Events: robust enough for pop-ups, festivals, and busy bartending shifts.

Storage tip: store upright and avoid tight stacking to protect rims and preserve clarity.

Dishwasher-safe for everyday cleaning — place on the top rack and use a normal household cycle. Repeated exposure to very high commercial temperatures can shorten glass life, so choose gentler programs where practical.

When you want to extend clarity and finish: hand-wash with warm water, a mild detergent, and a soft cloth; dry right away to avoid water spots. Handle by the body (not the rim) to reduce accidental chipping.

One size only: 1.5 oz (≈44.3 ml). Use the dimensions below for shelving, packaging, or tray planning.
