1949 Malaya Flag Proposal 2-new (Malaysia) Shot Glass 1.5oz

A deep blue ground, two crossed krisses and a double ring of white stars make up this 1949 entry for the Federation of Malaya.

Visual Elements & Composition

Blue covers almost every part of the field, so the palette feels heavy and formal. Two red blades meet at the centre as the single strong accent. Eleven white five-pointed stars orbit them in two rings, five close in and six further out. The drawing is flat and vector-clean, with no shading, so each star and blade holds its outline even at the modest size of a shot glass.

Meaning & Symbolism

The five inner stars counted the Unfederated Malay States. The six outer stars counted the four Federated States and the two Settlements. The krisses, traditional Malayan daggers, speak to the age and identity of the archipelago. Designers chose blue, red and white to tie the federation to the Commonwealth. This proposal was a finalist in the 1949 contest and was not adopted, while the third finalist was later reworked into Malaya's official flag in 1950.

Rings Within Reach

Held at mouth height, a shot glass puts the inner star ring directly in front of the drinker. The outer ring frames the crossed blades, so the image reads as one emblem from the rim inward. It is a small, exacting piece of Malayan flag history for a shelf or a bar cart.

Compact, heavy-based shot glasses made from clear, restaurant-grade glass. One standard size (1.5 oz / ≈44.3 ml) — sturdy, stack-friendly, and built to handle frequent service without fuss.

These shot glasses feel solid in the hand thanks to a thick, weighty base that keeps them steady on busy bar tops. The walls are even and clear, giving a nice, unobstructed view of the pour; the rim is smoothed for comfortable sipping.

They’re engineered for regular use: consistent dimensions, dependable weight, and a simple silhouette that suits both casual venues and more formal tasting counters. Designed to perform rather than show off.

  • Material: 100% clear glass for pure clarity and clean presentation.
  • Capacity: 1.5 oz (≈44.3 ml) — standard shot measure.
  • Base: heavy solid glass base that reduces tipping and improves balance.
  • Construction: restaurant-grade durability for frequent handling and washing.
  • Print-ready: suitable for single-sided print applications that withstand typical use.

Perfect for quick pours, samplers, and neat shots. Their compact footprint makes them easy to place on trays and tasting lines, while the heavier base keeps things steady during service.

  1. Bar service: quick, consistent pours — less wobble when carrying a tray of shots.
  2. Tastings: uniform size is handy for sampling flights or spirit tastings.
  3. Events: robust enough for pop-ups, festivals, and busy bartending shifts.

Storage tip: store upright and avoid tight stacking to protect rims and preserve clarity.

Dishwasher-safe for everyday cleaning — place on the top rack and use a normal household cycle. Repeated exposure to very high commercial temperatures can shorten glass life, so choose gentler programs where practical.

When you want to extend clarity and finish: hand-wash with warm water, a mild detergent, and a soft cloth; dry right away to avoid water spots. Handle by the body (not the rim) to reduce accidental chipping.

One size only: 1.5 oz (≈44.3 ml). Use the dimensions below for shelving, packaging, or tray planning.
