1949 Malaya Flag Proposal 3-new (Malaysia) Shot Glass 1.5oz

Alternating horizontal bands in red, white and blue carry a crescent and five-pointed star in the canton of this 1949 flag proposal by architect Mohamed Hamzah.

Visual Elements & Composition

The flag is organised as a run of horizontal stripes that alternate across the full field, giving the design a level, orderly rhythm. The canton in the upper corner is the only place where the pattern breaks, and there a crescent and a five-pointed star sit together as the focal point. Red, white and blue share the surface closely, so no single hue overwhelms the others. The flat vector drawing keeps the stripe edges crisp, which helps the pattern hold its shape across the curve of the glass.

Meaning & Symbolism

The stripes represent the states and settlements that made up the federation. The crescent and star in the canton signal Islam and the Malay sultanates. Red, white and blue point to the federation's association with the Commonwealth and to British protection. Hamzah's design was one of three finalists in the 1949 national competition. It won the public vote in The Malay Mail, and it was then modified before the official flag was adopted in 1950.

Striped Around the Shot Glass

A shot glass curves around the hand, so the stripes wrap the sides and read as one continuous band as the glass turns. The canton sits high on the surface, where it catches the eye as the drink is lifted. It is a neat, well-proportioned slice of Malayan flag history for a home bar.

Compact, heavy-based shot glasses made from clear, restaurant-grade glass. One standard size (1.5 oz / ≈44.3 ml) — sturdy, stack-friendly, and built to handle frequent service without fuss.

These shot glasses feel solid in the hand thanks to a thick, weighty base that keeps them steady on busy bar tops. The walls are even and clear, giving a nice, unobstructed view of the pour; the rim is smoothed for comfortable sipping.

They’re engineered for regular use: consistent dimensions, dependable weight, and a simple silhouette that suits both casual venues and more formal tasting counters. Designed to perform rather than show off.

  • Material: 100% clear glass for pure clarity and clean presentation.
  • Capacity: 1.5 oz (≈44.3 ml) — standard shot measure.
  • Base: heavy solid glass base that reduces tipping and improves balance.
  • Construction: restaurant-grade durability for frequent handling and washing.
  • Print-ready: suitable for single-sided print applications that withstand typical use.

Perfect for quick pours, samplers, and neat shots. Their compact footprint makes them easy to place on trays and tasting lines, while the heavier base keeps things steady during service.

  1. Bar service: quick, consistent pours — less wobble when carrying a tray of shots.
  2. Tastings: uniform size is handy for sampling flights or spirit tastings.
  3. Events: robust enough for pop-ups, festivals, and busy bartending shifts.

Storage tip: store upright and avoid tight stacking to protect rims and preserve clarity.

Dishwasher-safe for everyday cleaning — place on the top rack and use a normal household cycle. Repeated exposure to very high commercial temperatures can shorten glass life, so choose gentler programs where practical.

When you want to extend clarity and finish: hand-wash with warm water, a mild detergent, and a soft cloth; dry right away to avoid water spots. Handle by the body (not the rim) to reduce accidental chipping.

One size only: 1.5 oz (≈44.3 ml). Use the dimensions below for shelving, packaging, or tray planning.
