1949 Malaya Flag Proposal 4 (Malaysia) Shot Glass 1.5oz

Eleven blue and white stripes run beneath a red canton holding two yellow crossed kris in this 1949 proposal for the Federation of Malaya.

Visual Elements & Composition

The lower field is a striped band of blue and white, eleven stripes in all, which gives the flag a strong horizontal beat. Above it, the red canton is the warmest and most assertive area of the design. Two yellow kris cross at its centre, a small amount of gold that pulls the eye straight to the middle. The flat vector drawing keeps each stripe and blade edge clean, so the contrast holds even on a small glass.

Meaning & Symbolism

The eleven stripes stand for the nine Malay states and the two British settlements that formed the federation at that time. The crossed kris, the traditional Malayan daggers, speak to the identity of the land and its people. This entry was submitted to the 1949 competition for a national flag and was not selected, although its features remain a clear record of the federation's design debate before the 1950 adoption.

A Canton at Eye Level

A shot glass is small and held near the face, so the red canton lands directly in view when the glass is raised. The two yellow blades sit close to the middle of the glass, and the striped band below curves round the lower half, a compact flag piece that rewards a close look on the home bar.

Compact, heavy-based shot glasses made from clear, restaurant-grade glass. One standard size (1.5 oz / ≈44.3 ml) — sturdy, stack-friendly, and built to handle frequent service without fuss.

These shot glasses feel solid in the hand thanks to a thick, weighty base that keeps them steady on busy bar tops. The walls are even and clear, giving a nice, unobstructed view of the pour; the rim is smoothed for comfortable sipping.

They’re engineered for regular use: consistent dimensions, dependable weight, and a simple silhouette that suits both casual venues and more formal tasting counters. Designed to perform rather than show off.

  • Material: 100% clear glass for pure clarity and clean presentation.
  • Capacity: 1.5 oz (≈44.3 ml) — standard shot measure.
  • Base: heavy solid glass base that reduces tipping and improves balance.
  • Construction: restaurant-grade durability for frequent handling and washing.
  • Print-ready: suitable for single-sided print applications that withstand typical use.

Perfect for quick pours, samplers, and neat shots. Their compact footprint makes them easy to place on trays and tasting lines, while the heavier base keeps things steady during service.

  1. Bar service: quick, consistent pours — less wobble when carrying a tray of shots.
  2. Tastings: uniform size is handy for sampling flights or spirit tastings.
  3. Events: robust enough for pop-ups, festivals, and busy bartending shifts.

Storage tip: store upright and avoid tight stacking to protect rims and preserve clarity.

Dishwasher-safe for everyday cleaning — place on the top rack and use a normal household cycle. Repeated exposure to very high commercial temperatures can shorten glass life, so choose gentler programs where practical.

When you want to extend clarity and finish: hand-wash with warm water, a mild detergent, and a soft cloth; dry right away to avoid water spots. Handle by the body (not the rim) to reduce accidental chipping.

One size only: 1.5 oz (≈44.3 ml). Use the dimensions below for shelving, packaging, or tray planning.
