Description/Blazon

On a blue shield arched at the top and bottom, a stylized flame, shaped like a reversed "S," in yellow and scarlet, is depicted. A white rifle barrel with a fixed bayonet, extending diagonally from the lower right to the upper left and crossing over the flame, is also featured. The insignia is outlined by a white border.

Symbolism

The colors blue and white represent the Infantry. The stylized flame signifies the unit's firepower, while the bayonet, a fundamental Infantry weapon, symbolizes the unit's commitment to close combat. Together, the flame and bayonet reflect the unit's readiness and determination to engage in both fire fights and hand-to-hand combat.

Background

The shoulder sleeve insignia was approved on 6 July 1967.
