Description/Blazon

On a rectangular background with rounded top and bottom, divided per pale nebuly white and blue; the white portion forms a border around the blue portion. Two bayonets, with points up, are counterchanged blue on white and white on blue.

Symbolism

The blue represents Infantry, and the bayonets signify the unit’s Infantry role. The nebuly division represents clouds, reflecting the unit's Airborne status.

Background

The shoulder sleeve insignia was originally approved for the 2d Airborne Infantry Brigade on 4 August 1944 and abolished on 31 January 1947. It was reinstated and redesignated for the 2d Infantry Brigade, with the airborne tab removed, on 2 May 1958.
