226 Hi no Maru (Japan) Shot Glass 1.5oz

This design is a minimalist rendering of the Hi no Maru, a single red disc set on a stark white field, with four small black kanji characters placed in the corners.

Visual Elements & Composition

White fills nearly the whole surface, and the crimson disc sits at the centre as the only solid mark of colour. The four black kanji in the corners are the only other elements, and they frame the disc without competing with it. The flat vector treatment keeps the edges sharp, so the composition reads as a clean, high-contrast emblem from any distance.

Meaning & Symbolism

The red disc represents the sun, the source of Japan's name as the Land of the Rising Sun and a symbol linked in tradition to the lineage of the Emperor. The white ground is taken to signify purity and honesty. The emblem was used as a merchant flag and naval ensign from 1870, and it was designated the national flag of Japan by law in 1999. The number 226 in the title refers to the February 26 Incident of 1936, a failed coup attempt in Japan, and the design is presented here as a historical reference to that date.

On the Shot Glass

A 1.5oz shot glass is small and held close, so the disc is seen the moment the glass is lifted and the corner characters come into view as it is turned. The clear glass lets the drink sit behind the red disc, and the white field stays visible from every side.

Compact, heavy-based shot glasses made from clear, restaurant-grade glass. One standard size (1.5 oz / ≈44.3 ml) — sturdy, stack-friendly, and built to handle frequent service without fuss.

These shot glasses feel solid in the hand thanks to a thick, weighty base that keeps them steady on busy bar tops. The walls are even and clear, giving a nice, unobstructed view of the pour; the rim is smoothed for comfortable sipping.

They’re engineered for regular use: consistent dimensions, dependable weight, and a simple silhouette that suits both casual venues and more formal tasting counters. Designed to perform rather than show off.

  • Material: 100% clear glass for pure clarity and clean presentation.
  • Capacity: 1.5 oz (≈44.3 ml) — standard shot measure.
  • Base: heavy solid glass base that reduces tipping and improves balance.
  • Construction: restaurant-grade durability for frequent handling and washing.
  • Print-ready: suitable for single-sided print applications that withstand typical use.

Perfect for quick pours, samplers, and neat shots. Their compact footprint makes them easy to place on trays and tasting lines, while the heavier base keeps things steady during service.

  1. Bar service: quick, consistent pours — less wobble when carrying a tray of shots.
  2. Tastings: uniform size is handy for sampling flights or spirit tastings.
  3. Events: robust enough for pop-ups, festivals, and busy bartending shifts.

Storage tip: store upright and avoid tight stacking to protect rims and preserve clarity.

Dishwasher-safe for everyday cleaning — place on the top rack and use a normal household cycle. Repeated exposure to very high commercial temperatures can shorten glass life, so choose gentler programs where practical.

When you want to extend clarity and finish: hand-wash with warm water, a mild detergent, and a soft cloth; dry right away to avoid water spots. Handle by the body (not the rim) to reduce accidental chipping.

One size only: 1.5 oz (≈44.3 ml). Use the dimensions below for shelving, packaging, or tray planning.
