The "2d Rhode Island Infantry 013" refers to a military unit that served during the U.S. Civil War, specifically on the Union side. Also known as the "Second Regiment of Rhode Island Volunteer Infantry," this unit was raised in June 1861 and consisted of nine companies. The regiment participated in significant battles such as the First Battle of Bull Run, Antietam, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, Wilderness, Spotsylvania Courthouse, Cold Harbor, Petersburg, and Appomattox Campaign. Throughout the war, the 2d Rhode Island Infantry suffered heavy casualties, with over 300 men killed in action or dying of disease. After the war's end, the regiment mustered out of service in July 1865.
