The 380th Infantry Regiment is a military unit within the United States Army. It was initially established on July 15, 1942, during World War II as part of the 95th Infantry Division. After serving in the European Theater of Operations and participating in several significant battles, such as Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge, the regiment was deactivated on November 10, 1945, following the end of World War II. Reactivated during the Cold War era on January 1, 1963, the 380th Infantry Regiment became part of the 197th Light Infantry Brigade. The regiment saw service in Vietnam from 1965 to 1972 and was redesignated as the 380th Airborne Infantry in July 1965, serving in various roles until its deactivation once again on June 15, 1972. The regiment was reconstituted on August 10, 1984, and remains part of the United States Army Reserve, with the majority of its units stationed in Illinois. The mission of the 380th Infantry Regiment is to prepare soldiers for deployment in support of combat operations, providing trained manpower for defense and security tasks when called upon.
