Description/Blazon
A spade-shaped shield, divided vertically with the dexter half in blue and the sinister half in red. Centered on the shield is a white monogram of the letters "C" and "Y," The entire design is enclosed within an Army green border.

Symbolism
The monogram "C Y" represents the division's nickname, the "Cyclone Division."

Background
The shoulder sleeve insignia was initially approved by telegram for the 38th Infantry on 30 October 1918 and was officially announced on 19 June 1922. It was redesignated on 22 August 1963 for the 38th Infantry Division, and on 25 January 1966, the insignia was amended to correct the description.
