Description/Blazon
On a seven-sided embroidered insignia, vertically divided through the center into dark blue and red, with the upper ends at a 45-degree angle, outwardly slanted sides at the top, and a 90-degree point at the base, a yellow reversed triangular shape is centered, surmounted at the top by a white star, and flanked by two additional white stars, all within a dark blue border.
Symbolism
The flag blue represents the traditional color of Infantry units. The tri-color design reflects the Brigade’s Armor heritage and its association with the 42nd Infantry Rainbow Division. The three stars represent the 50th Infantry Brigade Combat Team’s heritage and symbolize New Jersey, the third state to sign the U.S. Constitution. The reversed triangular shape signifies the letter "V" for Victory, symbolizing triumph over enemies both at home and abroad and emphasizing the unit’s mission to defend and protect the nation.
Background
The shoulder sleeve insignia was approved on 22 January 2008.
