Description:
A shield blazoned: Azure, a pile Or. Above the shield, from a wreath Or and Gules, is a fleur-de-lis Gules fimbriated Or. Attached below and to the sides of the device is a gold scroll inscribed "LOLAMY" in red letters.
Symbolism:
The design of the shield represents a searchlight beam piercing the sky, symbolizing the antiaircraft activity of the Regiment. The red fleur-de-lis, reflecting the color of the Coast Artillery Corps, denotes the 68th Coast Artillery's service in France during World War I. The motto, derived from the Navajo language, translates to "Can Do."
Background:
The distinctive unit insignia was originally approved for the 68th Coast Artillery Regiment (Antiaircraft) on July 26, 1941. It was redesignated for the 68th Antiaircraft Artillery Gun Battalion on September 30, 1946, and for the 68th Antiaircraft Artillery Battalion on December 5, 1956. The insignia was redesignated for the 68th Artillery Regiment on December 9, 1958, and was rescinded effective September 1, 1971.
