The U.S. Air Force Reserve (AFRes) is a component of the United States Air Force (USAF). It provides trained Air Force personnel to support the regular USAF forces when needed. The AFRes, established in 1948, operates under Title 10 U.S. Code and reports directly to the Secretary of the Air Force. Members serve part-time, usually one weekend a month and two weeks each year, although they can be called up for active duty at any time.
