Anti-Lumumbist proposal for the flag of Congo-Léopoldville May 1960 (Congo) Shot Glass 1.5oz

A flat-vector tricolour of green, crimson and white, with a single white five-pointed star set on a diagonal green band.

Visual Elements & Composition

The three colours split the flag into near-equal shares, with green and crimson running on diagonals and white filling the remaining field. The white five-pointed star sits on the green band and is the only figure in the design. The layout is geometric and bold, with hard edges and no text, so the diagonal tricolour and the star define the image.

Meaning & Symbolism

This is a proposed flag from May 1960, drawn up for Congo-Léopoldville, the territory that is now the Democratic Republic of the Congo, as it approached independence. It was put forward by anti-Lumumbist federalist parties, who wanted a different political arrangement from the one led by Patrice Lumumba. The design was never adopted, but its tricolour scheme is cited in historical records as a possible source for the later flag of the secessionist State of Katanga.

In the Glass

A shot glass is small and held close, so the flag reads at eye level, with the star sitting near the centre of the glass. The diagonal bands follow the curve of the sides as the glass is turned, and the white field stays crisp against whatever is poured. It suits a shelf of historical flags or a display built around the independence era.

Compact, heavy-based shot glasses made from clear, restaurant-grade glass. One standard size (1.5 oz / ≈44.3 ml) — sturdy, stack-friendly, and built to handle frequent service without fuss.

These shot glasses feel solid in the hand thanks to a thick, weighty base that keeps them steady on busy bar tops. The walls are even and clear, giving a nice, unobstructed view of the pour; the rim is smoothed for comfortable sipping.

They’re engineered for regular use: consistent dimensions, dependable weight, and a simple silhouette that suits both casual venues and more formal tasting counters. Designed to perform rather than show off.

  • Material: 100% clear glass for pure clarity and clean presentation.
  • Capacity: 1.5 oz (≈44.3 ml) — standard shot measure.
  • Base: heavy solid glass base that reduces tipping and improves balance.
  • Construction: restaurant-grade durability for frequent handling and washing.
  • Print-ready: suitable for single-sided print applications that withstand typical use.

Perfect for quick pours, samplers, and neat shots. Their compact footprint makes them easy to place on trays and tasting lines, while the heavier base keeps things steady during service.

  1. Bar service: quick, consistent pours — less wobble when carrying a tray of shots.
  2. Tastings: uniform size is handy for sampling flights or spirit tastings.
  3. Events: robust enough for pop-ups, festivals, and busy bartending shifts.

Storage tip: store upright and avoid tight stacking to protect rims and preserve clarity.

Dishwasher-safe for everyday cleaning — place on the top rack and use a normal household cycle. Repeated exposure to very high commercial temperatures can shorten glass life, so choose gentler programs where practical.

When you want to extend clarity and finish: hand-wash with warm water, a mild detergent, and a soft cloth; dry right away to avoid water spots. Handle by the body (not the rim) to reduce accidental chipping.

One size only: 1.5 oz (≈44.3 ml). Use the dimensions below for shelving, packaging, or tray planning.
