AU-VIC road sign D4-V108 (Australia) (Road Sign) White Coffee Mug

This design is a precise reproduction of the D4-V108 road sign, a piece of standardised traffic hardware from Victoria, Australia, shown on its own and drawn with documentary care.

Visual Elements & Composition

The sign is isolated from its surroundings, so nothing competes with its outline. Its shapes, lettering and layout are rendered faithfully, and the clean, functional geometry is the first thing the eye reads. Nothing is decorative. Every edge and mark exists to be understood at a glance, which is exactly how a road sign is meant to work.

Meaning & Symbolism

The D4-V108 is part of the official Victorian road signage system, a set of standard designs that lets drivers recognise information instantly, whatever road they happen to be on. Its classification code is the key to its meaning: each sign in the system carries a defined purpose for road safety and navigation. The artwork celebrates that quiet discipline of civil engineering, where uniformity is the whole point.

Designed for the Mug in Hand

A mug is turned slowly in the hand, so the sign appears and disappears as you rotate it, much like a sign glimpsed from a passing car. The continuous wrap rewards a leisurely look over a morning cup. It suits anyone who notices how roads are signed, or who simply appreciates a well-made piece of public design.
