Austria-Hungary Civil Ensign 1869-1918 2 (Austria) Shot Glass 1.5oz

This design reproduces the civil ensign of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, the merchant flag that flew from 1869 until 1918.

Visual Elements & Composition

The rectangular flag is built from horizontal tricolour bands, with red taking the largest share and white close behind. Crowned heraldic shields sit on the field, one showing the red-white-red bars of Austria and another the red-white stripes and double cross of Hungary. Gold crowns, including the crown of St Stephen, add warm accents against the flat blue and green. The style is clean flat vector, which keeps the heraldry sharp at small scale.

Meaning & Symbolism

The double-shield layout reflects the dual monarchy, in which Austria and Hungary were united under one crown while keeping distinct national emblems. The crowns and shields mark the two halves of that state, and the civil ensign was the flag carried by merchant vessels, a daily sign of the empire at sea. The flag belongs to the late nineteenth and early twentieth century, and it recalls a period of maritime trade across the Adriatic and beyond.

Carried in the Hand

A shot glass is small and held close, so the crowned shields are seen up near the eye rather than across a room. The heraldry is detailed enough to reward a closer look, and each lift of the glass brings the crowns back into view. It suits a heraldic design that rewards a close reading.

Compact, heavy-based shot glasses made from clear, restaurant-grade glass. One standard size (1.5 oz / ≈44.3 ml) — sturdy, stack-friendly, and built to handle frequent service without fuss.

These shot glasses feel solid in the hand thanks to a thick, weighty base that keeps them steady on busy bar tops. The walls are even and clear, giving a nice, unobstructed view of the pour; the rim is smoothed for comfortable sipping.

They’re engineered for regular use: consistent dimensions, dependable weight, and a simple silhouette that suits both casual venues and more formal tasting counters. Designed to perform rather than show off.

  • Material: 100% clear glass for pure clarity and clean presentation.
  • Capacity: 1.5 oz (≈44.3 ml) — standard shot measure.
  • Base: heavy solid glass base that reduces tipping and improves balance.
  • Construction: restaurant-grade durability for frequent handling and washing.
  • Print-ready: suitable for single-sided print applications that withstand typical use.

Perfect for quick pours, samplers, and neat shots. Their compact footprint makes them easy to place on trays and tasting lines, while the heavier base keeps things steady during service.

  1. Bar service: quick, consistent pours — less wobble when carrying a tray of shots.
  2. Tastings: uniform size is handy for sampling flights or spirit tastings.
  3. Events: robust enough for pop-ups, festivals, and busy bartending shifts.

Storage tip: store upright and avoid tight stacking to protect rims and preserve clarity.

Dishwasher-safe for everyday cleaning — place on the top rack and use a normal household cycle. Repeated exposure to very high commercial temperatures can shorten glass life, so choose gentler programs where practical.

When you want to extend clarity and finish: hand-wash with warm water, a mild detergent, and a soft cloth; dry right away to avoid water spots. Handle by the body (not the rim) to reduce accidental chipping.

One size only: 1.5 oz (≈44.3 ml). Use the dimensions below for shelving, packaging, or tray planning.
