This shot glass reproduces the 1934 model of the Mexican tricolour, the flag of the Third Federal Republic, with its national emblem set in the centre.

Visual Elements & Composition

The flat vector design is organised into the familiar vertical bands of dark green, white and red, which together fill the rectangle. Dark green and red share the most surface area, with white narrower between them. At the centre of the white band sits a circular emblem: a golden eagle perched on a prickly pear cactus, with a serpent in its beak. A laurel and oak wreath surrounds the scene, and small brown and olive touches add weight to the foliage. The stripes give the whole composition a strong, structured rhythm.

Meaning & Symbolism

The eagle on the cactus, holding a serpent, is the central image of Mexico's national coat of arms, drawn from the legend of the founding of Tenochtitlan. The laurel and oak wreath stands for honour and strength, and the tricolour carries the national identity that the emblem was designed to express. The 1934 version belongs to the period of the Third Federal Republic and reflects the iconography used by the federal state in the decades that followed the earlier republics.
