Barni-Stemma (Italy) Shot Glass Design

This shot glass showcases the intricate and historically rich coat of arms (stemma) of Barni, a municipality in the province of Como, Italy. The design is a visual tapestry, meticulously crafted with symbolism reflecting the town's heritage and natural environment.

Quartered Shield

The coat of arms is organized into four distinct sections, or quarters, each contributing to the overall narrative.

First Quarter

The top-left quarter presents a silver (white) background, upon which stands a natural-colored beech tree, a direct reference to the renowned "faggio di Barni," a monumental tree emblematic of the area. The tree is rooted in a verdant, green ground.

Second and Third Quarters

The top-right and bottom-left quarters are themselves further divided, showcasing a complex arrangement representing the Sfondrati family. Within each of these subdivided areas:

  • The first and fourth sub-divisions feature a golden field adorned with a blue “gemella doppio-merlata” (a twin double-merloned figure) angled diagonally and accompanied by two eight-pointed blue stars, reflecting the Sfondrati family's heraldry.
  • The second and third sub-divisions display a blue field with a natural-colored pine tree, standing on a green terrace. Over this complex, a vertical red stripe ("pale") is superimposed, bearing the papal keys and gonfalon, an allusion to Niccolò Sfondrati, who became Pope Gregory XIV.

Fourth Quarter

The bottom-right quarter presents a silver field, upon which a red castle is prominently displayed. This castle represents the historical castle of Barni, once a crucial element in the area's defenses and a physical reminder of the region’s past.

Overall Composition

The overall design represents a blend of natural elements like the beech and pine trees with noble history, referencing the area's rich past and its influential figures. The coat of arms, designed by engineer Camillo Ghisi, serves as a lasting visual testament to Barni's identity.

Compact, heavy-based shot glasses made from clear, restaurant-grade glass. One standard size (1.5 oz / ≈44.3 ml) — sturdy, stack-friendly, and built to handle frequent service without fuss.

These shot glasses feel solid in the hand thanks to a thick, weighty base that keeps them steady on busy bar tops. The walls are even and clear, giving a nice, unobstructed view of the pour; the rim is smoothed for comfortable sipping.

They’re engineered for regular use: consistent dimensions, dependable weight, and a simple silhouette that suits both casual venues and more formal tasting counters. Designed to perform rather than show off.

  • Material: 100% clear glass for pure clarity and clean presentation.
  • Capacity: 1.5 oz (≈44.3 ml) — standard shot measure.
  • Base: heavy solid glass base that reduces tipping and improves balance.
  • Construction: restaurant-grade durability for frequent handling and washing.
  • Print-ready: suitable for single-sided print applications that withstand typical use.

Perfect for quick pours, samplers, and neat shots. Their compact footprint makes them easy to place on trays and tasting lines, while the heavier base keeps things steady during service.

  1. Bar service: quick, consistent pours — less wobble when carrying a tray of shots.
  2. Tastings: uniform size is handy for sampling flights or spirit tastings.
  3. Events: robust enough for pop-ups, festivals, and busy bartending shifts.

Storage tip: store upright and avoid tight stacking to protect rims and preserve clarity.

Dishwasher-safe for everyday cleaning — place on the top rack and use a normal household cycle. Repeated exposure to very high commercial temperatures can shorten glass life, so choose gentler programs where practical.

When you want to extend clarity and finish: hand-wash with warm water, a mild detergent, and a soft cloth; dry right away to avoid water spots. Handle by the body (not the rim) to reduce accidental chipping.

One size only: 1.5 oz (≈44.3 ml). Use the dimensions below for shelving, packaging, or tray planning.
