Blason de la Famille de Goyon Shot Glass: Design Description

This shot glass showcases the historic coat of arms, or blason, of the noble Goyon family of France. The design is a direct representation of the family's heraldic heritage.

Original Goyon Arms

The primary design element is a silver (argent) field, upon which stands a fierce red (gueules) lion. The lion is depicted crowned in gold (or), further emphasizing its regal bearing. This core design, also confirmed by early seals from 1219, speaks to the Goyon family's courage, strength, and nobility.

Goyon-Matignon Merger

The design also incorporates elements from the union with the Matignon family. This combined design is quartered (écartelé) to reflect this merger.

The first and fourth quarters repeat the original Goyon arms: the silver field and the red crowned lion. The second and third quarters feature a golden (or) field, with two red (gueules) fasces, or bundled bars. Adding to the uniqueness, nine merlettes (small stylized birds) are displayed in an "orle" border, following a 4-2-3 pattern. The fasces symbolize unity and tied strength, while the merlettes, common in French heraldry, can suggest peace or a constant state of activity.

Symbolism

The lion embodies the Goyon family’s strength and bravery. The silver background of the lion is a visual representation of the family's purity and sincerity. Gold signifies generosity and an elevated mind, while red signifies warrior strength and the blood of martyrdom.

Compact, heavy-based shot glasses made from clear, restaurant-grade glass. One standard size (1.5 oz / ≈44.3 ml) — sturdy, stack-friendly, and built to handle frequent service without fuss.

These shot glasses feel solid in the hand thanks to a thick, weighty base that keeps them steady on busy bar tops. The walls are even and clear, giving a nice, unobstructed view of the pour; the rim is smoothed for comfortable sipping.

They’re engineered for regular use: consistent dimensions, dependable weight, and a simple silhouette that suits both casual venues and more formal tasting counters. Designed to perform rather than show off.

  • Material: 100% clear glass for pure clarity and clean presentation.
  • Capacity: 1.5 oz (≈44.3 ml) — standard shot measure.
  • Base: heavy solid glass base that reduces tipping and improves balance.
  • Construction: restaurant-grade durability for frequent handling and washing.
  • Print-ready: suitable for single-sided print applications that withstand typical use.

Perfect for quick pours, samplers, and neat shots. Their compact footprint makes them easy to place on trays and tasting lines, while the heavier base keeps things steady during service.

  1. Bar service: quick, consistent pours — less wobble when carrying a tray of shots.
  2. Tastings: uniform size is handy for sampling flights or spirit tastings.
  3. Events: robust enough for pop-ups, festivals, and busy bartending shifts.

Storage tip: store upright and avoid tight stacking to protect rims and preserve clarity.

Dishwasher-safe for everyday cleaning — place on the top rack and use a normal household cycle. Repeated exposure to very high commercial temperatures can shorten glass life, so choose gentler programs where practical.

When you want to extend clarity and finish: hand-wash with warm water, a mild detergent, and a soft cloth; dry right away to avoid water spots. Handle by the body (not the rim) to reduce accidental chipping.

One size only: 1.5 oz (≈44.3 ml). Use the dimensions below for shelving, packaging, or tray planning.
