Blason province ca Île-du-Prince-Édouard (Canada) Pint Glass 16oz - Design Description

This pint glass showcases the intricate and symbolic Coat of Arms of Prince Edward Island, a heraldic emblem granted in 1905 and augmented in 2002. The design is a vibrant representation of the province's history, natural beauty, and cultural heritage.

The Shield

The central element of the design, the shield, is composed of several key components. The background, a silver field (argent), represents the province's resources and wealth. Upon this field rests a green island (vert), symbolizing Prince Edward Island itself. On the island, a mature oak tree stands to the left, representing Britain, while three young oak saplings on the right symbolize the province's three counties: Kings, Queens, and Prince. Above this scene, a red band (gules) features a gold (or) lion passant guardant, taken from the Royal Arms and a reference to Prince Edward, Duke of Kent, for whom the province was named.

The Crest

The crest above the shield depicts a blue jay (Cyanocitta cristata), the official avian emblem of the Island, perched on a grassy mount. The blue jay is depicted "reguardant," looking back over its shoulder, and crowned with the Royal Crown, signifying the province's status within Canada. In its beak, the blue jay holds a red oak leaf, a reference to the province’s official tree.

The Supporters

Two silver foxes (Vulpes fulva), rare animals native to the region, flank the shield as supporters. These foxes are a nod to the historical significance of the fur trade and represent sagacity and wit. One fox is adorned with a garland of potato blossoms, representing the Island's potato farming industry. The other wears a length of fishing net, symbolizing the province's fishing industry.

The Compartment

The base, or compartment, of the design features a green mount adorned with a Mi'kmaq eight-pointed star, representing the sun. Surrounding the star are various floral emblems: roses for England, lilies for France, thistles for Scotland, shamrocks for Ireland, and Lady's Slippers, the floral emblem of the island.

The Motto

The motto, "Parva sub ingenti," which translates to "The small under the protection of the great," is displayed beneath the design, adding another layer of meaning.

Clear 16 oz (≈0.47 L) pint glasses made from solid glass with a heavy base for steady placement. Narrower at the bottom for an easier grip and balanced feel — durable, dishwasher-safe, and ideal for both serving and mixing.

These pints are crafted from 100% clear glass that showcases the drink inside — color, clarity and carbonation are all visible. A heavier, solid base reduces tipping and gives the glass a satisfying weight in the hand while the gently tapered body makes holding and carrying more comfortable.

Built to last, the construction resists chipping under normal use and is suitable for busy service environments as well as retail display. One-sided print work reads bright against the clear surface; the overall aesthetic is clean and modern.

  • Material: 100% clear glass for pure clarity and gloss.
  • Capacity: 16 oz (standard U.S. pint / ≈0.47 L).
  • Base: heavy solid glass base reduces tipping and improves balance.
  • Shape: narrower bottom for a comfortable grip and easier carrying.
  • Durability: dishwasher-safe and built for regular use.

Use these glasses for draft pours, mixed drinks, iced beverages and more. Their clear walls show off color and bubbles, which makes them a great choice for menus, tasting flights, and bars where presentation matters.

  1. Serving: ideal for beers, sodas, iced teas and cocktails served cold.
  2. Mixing: also works as a simple mixing glass for shaken or stirred cocktails in casual settings.
  3. Display: clean silhouette fits behind bars, on shelves, or on retail racks.

Quick tip: because the base is heavier, these glasses feel stable on trays and counters — handy when serving multiple drinks at once.

These glasses are dishwasher-safe; place them on the top rack and use a regular household cycle. For best longevity, avoid stacking them tightly and steer clear of high-heat commercial wash cycles when possible.

Hand wash with warm water and mild dish soap when you want to preserve maximum clarity and avoid sudden temperature shocks. Handle by the body, not just the rim, to reduce the chance of accidental chipping.
