Blue Ensign of British Bombay (India) Shot Glass 1.5oz

A navy blue ensign with the Union Jack in the canton and the coat of arms of the Bombay Presidency set in its fly, drawn in flat vector style.

Visual Elements & Composition

Navy blue dominates the field, with the Union Jack held in the top corner. The badge of the presidency sits on the fly: a shield bearing two ships on blue waves, flanked by two rampant lions and topped by a crown. Tan, white and crimson pick out the heraldry, and the small castle on a rocky hill adds a touch of detail. The lines are clean and the badge is the clear focal point.

Meaning & Symbolism

The ships on the shield speak to Bombay as a working port, and the Latin motto Urbs Prima in Indis, meaning “First City in India,” claims the city’s place among the great ports of the subcontinent. The lion supporters and crown place the emblem within the formal heraldry of the British colonial period. The badge was carried on the ensign through the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, until the presidency was reorganised around 1937 to 1947.

Shaped for the Shot Glass

A shot glass is small and held close, so the shield and its two ships read clearly at arm’s length. Turned in the hand, the navy field and the tan and white heraldry shift against the clear glass, and the piece makes a considered talking point on a home bar or a shelf of maritime-history pieces.

Compact, heavy-based shot glasses made from clear, restaurant-grade glass. One standard size (1.5 oz / ≈44.3 ml) — sturdy, stack-friendly, and built to handle frequent service without fuss.

These shot glasses feel solid in the hand thanks to a thick, weighty base that keeps them steady on busy bar tops. The walls are even and clear, giving a nice, unobstructed view of the pour; the rim is smoothed for comfortable sipping.

They’re engineered for regular use: consistent dimensions, dependable weight, and a simple silhouette that suits both casual venues and more formal tasting counters. Designed to perform rather than show off.

  • Material: 100% clear glass for pure clarity and clean presentation.
  • Capacity: 1.5 oz (≈44.3 ml) — standard shot measure.
  • Base: heavy solid glass base that reduces tipping and improves balance.
  • Construction: restaurant-grade durability for frequent handling and washing.
  • Print-ready: suitable for single-sided print applications that withstand typical use.

Perfect for quick pours, samplers, and neat shots. Their compact footprint makes them easy to place on trays and tasting lines, while the heavier base keeps things steady during service.

  1. Bar service: quick, consistent pours — less wobble when carrying a tray of shots.
  2. Tastings: uniform size is handy for sampling flights or spirit tastings.
  3. Events: robust enough for pop-ups, festivals, and busy bartending shifts.

Storage tip: store upright and avoid tight stacking to protect rims and preserve clarity.

Dishwasher-safe for everyday cleaning — place on the top rack and use a normal household cycle. Repeated exposure to very high commercial temperatures can shorten glass life, so choose gentler programs where practical.

When you want to extend clarity and finish: hand-wash with warm water, a mild detergent, and a soft cloth; dry right away to avoid water spots. Handle by the body (not the rim) to reduce accidental chipping.

One size only: 1.5 oz (≈44.3 ml). Use the dimensions below for shelving, packaging, or tray planning.
