This design takes the familiar green shield of Brazil's BR-116 federal highway marker and sets it front and centre, bold and unmistakable.
Visual Elements & Composition
Green dominates the artwork, filling most of the frame, with white working as the second tone and a touch of light grey adding quiet contrast at the edges. The central motif is a pentagonal shield with a pointed base, framed by a nested outline border that echoes the layered rims of a road sign. The letters BR sit above the numerals 116, both rendered crisply in white. Everything is flat and graphic, with no shading or ornament, so the composition reads at a glance.
Meaning & Symbolism
The shield is the visual language of Brazil's federal highway network, where each route carries its own code and the BR prefix marks it as a national road. BR-116 is among the country's best-known corridors, running long distances through the nation's interior and linking far-apart regions. The design is a celebration of that sense of distance and direction, the kind of signage travellers look for when a journey begins to feel real. Its utilitarian roots are part of the appeal: this is a sign built to be read quickly and trusted completely.
Keep Your Eyes on the Road
A mug is turned slowly in the hands, so the shield rotates into view as you sip, with the BR and 116 sitting neatly across the curve. The bold green block gives the design a strong anchor on the side you see first, while the nested border wraps around the cup like a route tracing its way home. It makes a cheeky conversation starter for anyone who has driven, dreamed of driving, or simply loves a good road trip, and it turns the morning coffee into a small detour through Brazil.
