BR-917 jct (Brazil) (Road Sign) Color Changing Mug 11oz

This design takes a single road marker, the BR-917 shield, and presents it as a clean, graphic emblem of Brazil's federal highway network.

Visual Elements & Composition

The shield sits centred and alone, drawn in flat vector style with no shading or gradient. Its outline is doubled, with an inner and outer border that follow the notched point at the bottom. Black covers a small share of the artwork and white fills most of the field, so the shield reads as a crisp, high-contrast silhouette. The letters BR and the numerals 917 are set in bold type inside the shield, and nothing else competes with them. The composition is deliberately spare, which keeps the eye on the code itself.

Meaning & Symbolism

In Brazil, the BR prefix marks a federal highway, and the number identifies one specific route in that system. The shield form is the standard federal route marker used on Brazilian roads, so the artwork speaks the visual language of the road itself. Each marker tells a driver which highway they are on, and this design lifts that small piece of wayfinding into a modern, minimal emblem. It belongs to the world of transport signage, where a few well-chosen symbols do the work of a full sentence.

Designed for the Hand

A mug is turned in the hand, so the shield does not stay still. As the cup is rotated, the emblem passes across the eye in sequence, and the black and white contrast stays sharp from every angle. The heat-reactive surface brings the design forward as the drink warms, so the marker appears as the cup is used. For a road sign printed on a mug, that is a fitting kind of journey.
