A double-outlined route shield carries the marker BR 950 and the jct label, a flat vector road sign for a Brazilian federal highway.
Visual Elements & Composition
Black and white are the only colours, with white filling about four fifths of the field. The shield has a rounded upper body narrowing to a pointed notch at the bottom, enclosed by a double outline. BR and the numerals 950 are set in the centre of the shield, and jct sits beneath in a smaller line. Nothing else enters the composition, so the sign is legible straight away.
Meaning & Symbolism
The BR prefix marks a federal highway in Brazil, and the three-digit number places this route within the national system. The jct label stands for a junction, the point where one road joins or leaves another. The shield form is the standard Brazilian route marker, so the design represents the navigation and transport links that run through the country.
Lifted, Turned, Set Down
A mug is rotated each time it is lifted, so the shield moves around the curved wall of the cup and appears in sections. The double border follows the mug's outline, and the BR 950 lettering stays upright from the handle side. The white ground keeps the black sign sharp as the cup turns.
