A black-outlined highway shield carries the route marker BR-990 with the jct label, a Brazilian federal road sign rendered as a flat vector.
Visual Elements & Composition
White makes up nearly four fifths of the artwork, with black forming the shield outline, the double border and the lettering. The shield is upright, with a rounded base and a pointed notch cut into its lower centre. BR and the numerals 990 fill the upper body of the shield, and the jct label sits beneath them in smaller plain type. The layout is centred and free of ornament, so the sign reads in a single look.
Meaning & Symbolism
The BR prefix designates a federal highway in Brazil, and the three-digit number locates the route within that national network. A jct marker identifies a junction, the place where roads meet, divide or change course. The shield is the standard form of Brazilian road signage, so the design stands for the navigation that keeps traffic moving between towns and regions.
In the Hand, at the Lip
A mug is turned as it is raised to drink, so the shield wraps around the curved wall of the cup and is seen one section at a time. The double border follows that curve, and the upright BR 990 lettering stays legible from the handle side. The clean white ground lets the black sign stand out at every turn.
