Charles Norrie Arms Shot Glass Design

This shot glass showcases the heraldic achievement of Charles Willoughby Moke Norrie, 1st Baron Norrie, who served as Governor-General of New Zealand. The design is a visual representation of his coat of arms, rich in symbolism and historical significance.

Escutcheon (Shield)

The central element is the shield, quarterly divided into four sections, reflecting the merging of the Norrie and Moke family heritages.

  • 1st & 4th Quarters: Representing the Norrie family, these quarters feature an ermine field (white fur pattern) bisected by a red vertical stripe (pale), adorned with three silver helmets.
  • 2nd & 3rd Quarters: These sections display the Moke family arms, with a gold field (Or) bearing a blue chevron. Above the chevron are two uprooted poplar trees, and below is a six-pointed blue star (mullet). A gold key pointing downwards is emblazoned on the chevron.

Crest

Above the shield sits the crest, comprised of two sides:

  • Dexter (Right) Side: An elephant's head in black, complete with silver tusks, holds a gold garb (sheaf of wheat) in its trunk, symbolizing the Norrie lineage.
  • Sinister (Left) Side: A stag's head is shown holding a poplar branch in its mouth. Between the antlers, a gold key, hanging from a gold chain, echoes the Moke family’s imagery.

Supporters

Flanking the shield are two dark bay racehorses, each supporting a frond of New Zealand fern between its forelegs. This design element acknowledges Lord Norrie's connection to New Zealand and his passion for racing.

Motto

The design is completed with the motto “Deus nobis providet,” Latin for "God provides for us," conveying a sense of faith and providence.

This design is a detailed representation of Lord Norrie's coat of arms, a symbol of his heritage, his position, and his connection to New Zealand.

Compact, heavy-based shot glasses made from clear, restaurant-grade glass. One standard size (1.5 oz / ≈44.3 ml) — sturdy, stack-friendly, and built to handle frequent service without fuss.

These shot glasses feel solid in the hand thanks to a thick, weighty base that keeps them steady on busy bar tops. The walls are even and clear, giving a nice, unobstructed view of the pour; the rim is smoothed for comfortable sipping.

They’re engineered for regular use: consistent dimensions, dependable weight, and a simple silhouette that suits both casual venues and more formal tasting counters. Designed to perform rather than show off.

  • Material: 100% clear glass for pure clarity and clean presentation.
  • Capacity: 1.5 oz (≈44.3 ml) — standard shot measure.
  • Base: heavy solid glass base that reduces tipping and improves balance.
  • Construction: restaurant-grade durability for frequent handling and washing.
  • Print-ready: suitable for single-sided print applications that withstand typical use.

Perfect for quick pours, samplers, and neat shots. Their compact footprint makes them easy to place on trays and tasting lines, while the heavier base keeps things steady during service.

  1. Bar service: quick, consistent pours — less wobble when carrying a tray of shots.
  2. Tastings: uniform size is handy for sampling flights or spirit tastings.
  3. Events: robust enough for pop-ups, festivals, and busy bartending shifts.

Storage tip: store upright and avoid tight stacking to protect rims and preserve clarity.

Dishwasher-safe for everyday cleaning — place on the top rack and use a normal household cycle. Repeated exposure to very high commercial temperatures can shorten glass life, so choose gentler programs where practical.

When you want to extend clarity and finish: hand-wash with warm water, a mild detergent, and a soft cloth; dry right away to avoid water spots. Handle by the body (not the rim) to reduce accidental chipping.

One size only: 1.5 oz (≈44.3 ml). Use the dimensions below for shelving, packaging, or tray planning.
