Chauvet Rhinos - Color Morphing Mug Design

This design reproduces a herd of woolly rhinoceroses drawn in the manner of Paleolithic cave art, rendered in charcoal strokes and carved-looking engraving.

Visual Elements & Composition

The rhinos are the whole story. Their heavy bodies, low heads and shaggy coats are built from loose, dark charcoal lines that look as if they were dragged across rough stone rather than painted on a flat surface. The palette stays close to the earth: charcoal and black for the outlines and shadows, sepia and warm earth tones for the wall behind them. Nothing is decorative. Meaning & Symbolism

These images come from the Chauvet-Pont-d'Arc Cave in southern France, where anonymous artists of the Aurignacian culture drew and engraved Ice Age animals roughly 30,000 to 36,000 years ago.
