Cheng I Sao Flag (China) Shot Glass 1.5oz

A single line of bold Chinese characters, 鄭一嫂, names the woman who commanded one of the largest fleets of the South China Sea.

Visual Elements & Composition

Near-black lettering covers most of the field, with the off-white ground showing around the strokes. The characters sit in one horizontal line, so the composition is a single row of display lettering with no other figures. The contrast is strong and the strokes are heavy, which keeps the name legible from a short distance.

Meaning & Symbolism

The characters read Zheng Yi Sao, the name of the woman who led the Red Flag Fleet, a large confederation of pirate junks active in the South China Sea in the early nineteenth century. She built the fleet into a disciplined command that ran its own rules and dealt with the Qing government on its own terms before the surrender of 1810. The design honours that legacy, and the piece is an independent reproduction that uses the name as its centrepiece.

On the Shot Glass

A shot glass is small and held close, so the characters fill the view as the glass is lifted, and the single line reads straight across the front. The dark strokes stay crisp through the glass wall, and the name is easy to take in when the glass is turned on the table. It is a compact tribute to one of the most striking figures in maritime history, and it suits a home bar as well as a collection of naval memorabilia.

Compact, heavy-based shot glasses made from clear, restaurant-grade glass. One standard size (1.5 oz / ≈44.3 ml) — sturdy, stack-friendly, and built to handle frequent service without fuss.

These shot glasses feel solid in the hand thanks to a thick, weighty base that keeps them steady on busy bar tops. The walls are even and clear, giving a nice, unobstructed view of the pour; the rim is smoothed for comfortable sipping.

They’re engineered for regular use: consistent dimensions, dependable weight, and a simple silhouette that suits both casual venues and more formal tasting counters. Designed to perform rather than show off.

  • Material: 100% clear glass for pure clarity and clean presentation.
  • Capacity: 1.5 oz (≈44.3 ml) — standard shot measure.
  • Base: heavy solid glass base that reduces tipping and improves balance.
  • Construction: restaurant-grade durability for frequent handling and washing.
  • Print-ready: suitable for single-sided print applications that withstand typical use.

Perfect for quick pours, samplers, and neat shots. Their compact footprint makes them easy to place on trays and tasting lines, while the heavier base keeps things steady during service.

  1. Bar service: quick, consistent pours — less wobble when carrying a tray of shots.
  2. Tastings: uniform size is handy for sampling flights or spirit tastings.
  3. Events: robust enough for pop-ups, festivals, and busy bartending shifts.

Storage tip: store upright and avoid tight stacking to protect rims and preserve clarity.

Dishwasher-safe for everyday cleaning — place on the top rack and use a normal household cycle. Repeated exposure to very high commercial temperatures can shorten glass life, so choose gentler programs where practical.

When you want to extend clarity and finish: hand-wash with warm water, a mild detergent, and a soft cloth; dry right away to avoid water spots. Handle by the body (not the rim) to reduce accidental chipping.

One size only: 1.5 oz (≈44.3 ml). Use the dimensions below for shelving, packaging, or tray planning.
