This is the official Coat of Arms of Brazil, a national emblem built around a deep blue disc, a golden star, and two crop branches, all set on a dark ground.

Visual Elements & Composition

The round blue disc sits at the centre and carries the Southern Cross, the constellation that marks the night sky of the Southern Hemisphere. Above it, a golden-yellow star is ringed by 20 small stars, representing the states at the time of adoption along with the Federal District at the centre. A coffee branch curls up the left side and a tobacco branch up the right, framing the whole emblem. Beneath the disc, a blue ribbon bears the words República Federativa do Brasil and the date 15 November 1889. The dark blue of the disc and ribbon is the colour that carries the composition.

The emblem was officially adopted on 19 November 1889, days after the proclamation of the Republic.
