Diplomatic Seal of Prince Wilhelm of Wied - Frosted Pint Glass 16oz

A 1914 state seal in charcoal line engraving, combining the double-headed eagle of Albania with the peacock of the House of Wied.

Visual Elements & Composition

White fills most of the field, with charcoal lines drawing the heraldry. A double-headed eagle serves as the supporter, holding a central escutcheon. Within that shield sits the peacock, and the shield itself carries a diagonally striped pattern and a bordure. An imperial crown with a star rises above, with two crossed heraldic shields set beneath. The engraving style gives the seal an official, formal finish, and there is no lettering.

Meaning & Symbolism

The seal was made for Prince Wilhelm of Wied, who ruled the Principality of Albania briefly in 1914. The double-headed eagle stood for the Albanian state, while the peacock came from the personal arms of the House of Wied and carried the Prince's own lineage and authority. Emil Doepler, the German heraldist and illustrator, designed it to give the new state the language of European monarchy. The merging of the two emblems was a deliberate statement of the Prince's mandate.

Where the Seal Meets the Glass

A pint glass gives the seal a tall, curved wall, so the crown sits near the rim and the eagle and shield fill the middle of the print. Seen across a table, the crossed shields and the crown read as a formal crest, and up close the peacock and the striped field show their detail. The frosted finish softens the engraved lines into a semi-translucent print.

Frosted pint glass (16 oz / ≈0.47 L) with a soft matte finish and semi-translucent, one-sided print. Tough enough for bar and restaurant use, dishwasher safe, and BPA-free — a modern take on classic pintware.

These pints are mouth-blown-style glass finished with a satin frost that mutes glare and gives art a soft, tactile presence. The print sits atop the frosted surface to create a semi-see-through effect — the look subtly shifts depending on lighting and what's poured inside.

Because the print is slightly translucent, pale drinks let more light through and darker pours create stronger contrast. That interplay gives each serving a small visual surprise — useful in hospitality settings or retail displays where the drink and the glass play off each other.

  • Material: 100% glass with a matte, frosted finish for a low-reflective, premium feel.
  • Capacity: 16 oz (standard U.S. pint, ≈0.47 L).
  • Print: one-sided wraparound, semi-translucent finish that changes with light and liquid.
  • Care: dishwasher-safe for everyday service (see Care tab for tips).
  • Use cases: retail shelves, bar service, event glassware, or merch racks — suitable for single units or larger orders.

These glasses work well for chilled beers, craft pours, iced cocktails and cold brew — anywhere you want an elegant, understated presentation. The frosted surface hides minor fingerprints and softens the silhouette of the drink inside.

  1. Serve: fill with cold beverages; the semi-translucent print will interact with the drink color for subtle variation.
  2. Display: stack or line them on back bar shelving where soft lighting emphasizes the frosted texture.
  3. Stocking: sell individually or as a set; their neutral look fits many menu styles and venue aesthetics.

Tip: if you plan themed pours (pale ales, lagers, dark stouts), test a sample to see how each drink’s hue changes the printed artwork’s visibility.

Dishwasher-safe for routine cleaning — use a standard household cycle and avoid very high-heat commercial programs when possible. Placing glasses mouth-down on the rack reduces risk of chipping during wash cycles.

For best longevity, hand-wash with warm water and mild detergent and dry immediately with a lint-free cloth. Avoid abrasive scouring pads and harsh chemical cleaners that can dull the frosted finish or wear printed areas over time.
