Earl of Minto Coat of Arms Shot Glass Design

This shot glass showcases the intricate and historically rich Coat of Arms (COA) of the Earl of Minto, a distinguished Scottish peerage. The design is a vibrant visual representation of family heritage, honor, and service.

The Shield: A Quartered Legacy

The central element is the shield, meticulously quartered to display the family's lineage. The first and fourth quarters (1 & 4) are derived from the Murray of Melgund family, featuring a silver (argent) field with a black hunting horn (bugle-horn) strung in red (gules). Within this quarter, a red crescent appears in the upper right, and three silver stars (mullets) are set on a wavy blue (azure) chief, a top stripe.

The second and third quarters (2 & 3) represent the Kynynmound family, presenting a blue (azure) field with a silver chevron positioned between three gold fleurs-de-lis. The second and third Grand quarters represent the Elliot of Minto line which features a red (gules) field bearing a gold zig-zag diagonal stripe (bend engrailed) with a blue baton, all within a border of the heraldic fur “vair.”

Over all the design is an augmentation, a silver top stripe charged with a side-profile of a Moor’s head in natural colors. This prominent symbol, the Moor's head, represents an honor tied to the 1st Earl's role as Viceroy of the Anglo-Corsican Kingdom.

Crest and Supporters

Above the shield, the crest depicts a right arm, bent and emerging from clouds, holding a dart, all rendered in natural colors. This visual element complements the motto “Non eget arcu” (He needs not the bow).

Flanking the shield are the supporters. On the right (dexter) side, an Indian sheep is present, while a fawn (young deer) appears on the left (sinister) side. Both supporters are in natural colors. These supporters symbolize honor the 1st Earl’s time in India and the family's overall connection to imperial / colonial service.

Mottoes: Words of Strength and Purpose

Above the crest, the motto "NON EGET ARCU" is displayed. Below the shield, the motto "SUAVITER ET FORTITER" is inscribed, conveying the Earl's values.

Overall Symbolism

The overall design is a testament to the family's history, combining elements from the Murray, Kynynmound, and Elliot lines. The Moor's head, the crest with the dart, and the choice of supporters all contribute to a design that honors the Earl of Minto's heritage and past achievements.

Compact, heavy-based shot glasses made from clear, restaurant-grade glass. One standard size (1.5 oz / ≈44.3 ml) — sturdy, stack-friendly, and built to handle frequent service without fuss.

These shot glasses feel solid in the hand thanks to a thick, weighty base that keeps them steady on busy bar tops. The walls are even and clear, giving a nice, unobstructed view of the pour; the rim is smoothed for comfortable sipping.

They’re engineered for regular use: consistent dimensions, dependable weight, and a simple silhouette that suits both casual venues and more formal tasting counters. Designed to perform rather than show off.

  • Material: 100% clear glass for pure clarity and clean presentation.
  • Capacity: 1.5 oz (≈44.3 ml) — standard shot measure.
  • Base: heavy solid glass base that reduces tipping and improves balance.
  • Construction: restaurant-grade durability for frequent handling and washing.
  • Print-ready: suitable for single-sided print applications that withstand typical use.

Perfect for quick pours, samplers, and neat shots. Their compact footprint makes them easy to place on trays and tasting lines, while the heavier base keeps things steady during service.

  1. Bar service: quick, consistent pours — less wobble when carrying a tray of shots.
  2. Tastings: uniform size is handy for sampling flights or spirit tastings.
  3. Events: robust enough for pop-ups, festivals, and busy bartending shifts.

Storage tip: store upright and avoid tight stacking to protect rims and preserve clarity.

Dishwasher-safe for everyday cleaning — place on the top rack and use a normal household cycle. Repeated exposure to very high commercial temperatures can shorten glass life, so choose gentler programs where practical.

When you want to extend clarity and finish: hand-wash with warm water, a mild detergent, and a soft cloth; dry right away to avoid water spots. Handle by the body (not the rim) to reduce accidental chipping.

One size only: 1.5 oz (≈44.3 ml). Use the dimensions below for shelving, packaging, or tray planning.
