This design reproduces the official flag of Eindhoven, the largest city in the Dutch province of North Brabant, as a bold, flat red-and-white statement of civic pride.

Visual Elements & Composition

Crimson and white split the field almost evenly, with crimson taking roughly half and white the rest. A vertical bar sits on the hoist side, and a narrower canton-style bar runs along the left edge, while horizontal stripes cross the field in a clean, graphic rhythm. Nothing is decorative for its own sake: the layout is pure stripe, rendered in flat vector shapes with no text or numerals to compete with the colour.

Meaning & Symbolism

The red and white come directly from the city's coat of arms and the North Brabant provincial flag, tying Eindhoven to the wider region. The two vertical stripes stand for the city itself, while the five horizontal stripes represent the five municipalities that merged into Eindhoven in 1920: Woensel, Tongelre, Stratum, Gestel and Strijp. Architect Louis Kooken designed the flag, and it was officially adopted on 14 October 1927, a 1920s emblem of local identity that still reads as a proud badge of place.
