Visual Elements & Composition

A white field carries the whole design. Black dominates, forming an inverted horseshoe that stands in for the Satsuma and Ōsumi Peninsulas, with a deliberate notch cut into it for Shibushi Bay. A single red circle sits beside the silhouette, placed to mark Sakurajima, the region's active volcano.
