Flag of Kedah 18th century 1821 Malaysia - Frosted Pint Glass 16oz

This design reproduces the state flag of the Sultanate of Kedah as it stood in 1821, a plain red field carrying a single yellow tiger caught mid-leap.

Visual Elements & Composition

Red fills the entire field, and it is the only ground colour in the artwork. The tiger sits near the centre in bright yellow, shown in a dynamic, pouncing stance rather than at rest. The shapes are flat and solid, with no gradients, no border and no text, so the emblem reads at once from a distance. Nothing competes with the animal, and the contrast between the saturated red and the yellow does most of the work.

Meaning & Symbolism

In Kedah, red is the traditional colour of prosperity, and the flag carries that meaning across its field. The tiger is the harimau terkam, or pouncing tiger, also called harimau melompat, the jumping tiger. The version charged with this tiger was adopted in 1821 under Sultan Ahmad Tajuddin Halim Shah II and remained the official state flag until 1912. An earlier plain red field dates to the early eighteenth century, so the design marks a specific chapter in the sultanate's heraldry, when the tiger became its emblem.

On the Pint Glass

A pint glass wraps a tall, curved surface, so the flag is seen as a wide band that rolls around the glass as it is lifted. The frosted matte finish softens the red and lets the yellow tiger glow through the semi-translucent print, which suits a bold, flat emblem like this one. Held in the hand, the tiger stays in view from every side of the glass.

Frosted pint glass (16 oz / ≈0.47 L) with a soft matte finish and semi-translucent, one-sided print. Tough enough for bar and restaurant use, dishwasher safe, and BPA-free — a modern take on classic pintware.

These pints are mouth-blown-style glass finished with a satin frost that mutes glare and gives art a soft, tactile presence. The print sits atop the frosted surface to create a semi-see-through effect — the look subtly shifts depending on lighting and what's poured inside.

Because the print is slightly translucent, pale drinks let more light through and darker pours create stronger contrast. That interplay gives each serving a small visual surprise — useful in hospitality settings or retail displays where the drink and the glass play off each other.

  • Material: 100% glass with a matte, frosted finish for a low-reflective, premium feel.
  • Capacity: 16 oz (standard U.S. pint, ≈0.47 L).
  • Print: one-sided wraparound, semi-translucent finish that changes with light and liquid.
  • Care: dishwasher-safe for everyday service (see Care tab for tips).
  • Use cases: retail shelves, bar service, event glassware, or merch racks — suitable for single units or larger orders.

These glasses work well for chilled beers, craft pours, iced cocktails and cold brew — anywhere you want an elegant, understated presentation. The frosted surface hides minor fingerprints and softens the silhouette of the drink inside.

  1. Serve: fill with cold beverages; the semi-translucent print will interact with the drink color for subtle variation.
  2. Display: stack or line them on back bar shelving where soft lighting emphasizes the frosted texture.
  3. Stocking: sell individually or as a set; their neutral look fits many menu styles and venue aesthetics.

Tip: if you plan themed pours (pale ales, lagers, dark stouts), test a sample to see how each drink’s hue changes the printed artwork’s visibility.

Dishwasher-safe for routine cleaning — use a standard household cycle and avoid very high-heat commercial programs when possible. Placing glasses mouth-down on the rack reduces risk of chipping during wash cycles.

For best longevity, hand-wash with warm water and mild detergent and dry immediately with a lint-free cloth. Avoid abrasive scouring pads and harsh chemical cleaners that can dull the frosted finish or wear printed areas over time.
