Flag of Maastricht the capital of the province of Limburg Netherlands - Color Changing Coffee Mug

The Flag of Maastricht is the official banner representing the capital city of the Dutch province of Limburg, situated within the Netherlands. The design of this flag consists of six horizontal stripes in alternating shades of red and white, with the city's coat of arms placed in the upper hoist canton (top left corner). The colors and pattern of the flag are reminiscent of the historic livery colors of the Principality of Stavelot-Malmedy, a medieval principality that encompassed Maastricht. The current design, featuring the coat of arms, was officially adopted on May 24, 1986. The coat of arms displayed on the flag consists of three keys, two silver and one gold, symbolizing the traditional legend of St. Servatius, who is believed to have hidden the relics of St. Peter in Maastricht during the Roman persecution. The helmet above the shield represents Maastricht's status as a city.
