Flag of Monbetsu Hokkaido (Japan) Pint Glass 16oz

This design reproduces the municipal flag of Monbetsu, a city in Hokkaido, Japan, reduced to a single green character on a clean white field.

Visual Elements & Composition

White fills most of the design, roughly 85 percent of the field, with green taking the rest. At the centre sits a stylised green mon (紋) character, drawn as flat vector shapes with no shading or texture. The character is built from a circle, a vertical bar and an hourglass-like form, so the emblem reads as geometry before it reads as a letter. Nothing else competes for attention. The layout is symmetrical and quiet, and the restraint is what makes it striking.

Meaning & Symbolism

The character is the first kanji of the city's name, so the emblem works as a monogram of Monbetsu itself. Its circular outline stands for the city's orientation and its connection to the Sea of Okhotsk, which lies along its coast. The palette of green and white keeps the message clear and rooted in regional identity. The city emblem was adopted on April 1, 1941, and the flag followed on July 1, 1978. The design belongs to a long Japanese heraldic tradition in which a single symbol carries a whole place.

On the Mixing Glass

A tall, tapering vessel gives this emblem a surface to wrap around. Held in the hand, the circle and the bar of the mon travel around the curve of the glass, so the symbol is read in pieces as you turn it. The design sits centred on the front, where it catches the eye at the bar and again when the glass is lifted. For a gift for someone with a connection to Hokkaido, or a love of Japanese graphic design, the glass turns a quiet civic symbol into something you use every day.

Clear 16 oz (≈0.47 L) pint glasses made from solid glass with a heavy base for steady placement. Narrower at the bottom for an easier grip and balanced feel — durable, dishwasher-safe, and ideal for both serving and mixing.

These pints are crafted from 100% clear glass that showcases the drink inside — color, clarity and carbonation are all visible. A heavier, solid base reduces tipping and gives the glass a satisfying weight in the hand while the gently tapered body makes holding and carrying more comfortable.

Built to last, the construction resists chipping under normal use and is suitable for busy service environments as well as retail display. One-sided print work reads bright against the clear surface; the overall aesthetic is clean and modern.

  • Material: 100% clear glass for pure clarity and gloss.
  • Capacity: 16 oz (standard U.S. pint / ≈0.47 L).
  • Base: heavy solid glass base reduces tipping and improves balance.
  • Shape: narrower bottom for a comfortable grip and easier carrying.
  • Durability: dishwasher-safe and built for regular use.

Use these glasses for draft pours, mixed drinks, iced beverages and more. Their clear walls show off color and bubbles, which makes them a great choice for menus, tasting flights, and bars where presentation matters.

  1. Serving: ideal for beers, sodas, iced teas and cocktails served cold.
  2. Mixing: also works as a simple mixing glass for shaken or stirred cocktails in casual settings.
  3. Display: clean silhouette fits behind bars, on shelves, or on retail racks.

Quick tip: because the base is heavier, these glasses feel stable on trays and counters — handy when serving multiple drinks at once.

These glasses are dishwasher-safe; place them on the top rack and use a regular household cycle. For best longevity, avoid stacking them tightly and steer clear of high-heat commercial wash cycles when possible.

Hand wash with warm water and mild dish soap when you want to preserve maximum clarity and avoid sudden temperature shocks. Handle by the body, not just the rim, to reduce the chance of accidental chipping.
