Flag of Okinawa Prefecture 24 April-15 May 1972 (Japan) Shot Glass 1.5oz

This design renders the transitional flag of Okinawa Prefecture, a short-lived banner that flew for just three weeks in spring 1972.

Visual Elements & Composition

The field is white and dominates the design, taking roughly two-thirds of the surface. Set into its centre is a stylised emblem built from concentric circles, a flat vector mark that reads as a bold, modern letter "O". A solid blue ring forms the outer band of the emblem, and a small red disk sits at its heart, giving the mark a clear focal point. There is no lettering beyond that single form, so the composition relies entirely on geometry and contrast.

Meaning & Symbolism

The circles form an "O" for Okinawa, the prefecture's name. The blue of the ring stands for the ocean that surrounds the islands and for the growth the region hoped to achieve. This version was in use from 24 April to 15 May 1972, the weeks immediately before and including the reversion of the Ryukyu Islands from United States administration to Japanese sovereignty. The red centre was adopted later, on 13 October 1972, to avoid confusion with a martial arts organisation's logo, so this blue-ringed form marks a single, precise moment in the region's history.

Made for the Hand, Held Close

A shot glass is small, lifted in one hand and raised at eye level, so the emblem arrives up close rather than across a room. The circles sit neatly within the glass's round profile, and the blue ring reads clearly as it turns in the light. It is a fitting piece for a toast marking a turning point, and a conversation starter for anyone who enjoys a story behind their glassware.

Compact, heavy-based shot glasses made from clear, restaurant-grade glass. One standard size (1.5 oz / ≈44.3 ml) — sturdy, stack-friendly, and built to handle frequent service without fuss.

These shot glasses feel solid in the hand thanks to a thick, weighty base that keeps them steady on busy bar tops. The walls are even and clear, giving a nice, unobstructed view of the pour; the rim is smoothed for comfortable sipping.

They’re engineered for regular use: consistent dimensions, dependable weight, and a simple silhouette that suits both casual venues and more formal tasting counters. Designed to perform rather than show off.

  • Material: 100% clear glass for pure clarity and clean presentation.
  • Capacity: 1.5 oz (≈44.3 ml) — standard shot measure.
  • Base: heavy solid glass base that reduces tipping and improves balance.
  • Construction: restaurant-grade durability for frequent handling and washing.
  • Print-ready: suitable for single-sided print applications that withstand typical use.

Perfect for quick pours, samplers, and neat shots. Their compact footprint makes them easy to place on trays and tasting lines, while the heavier base keeps things steady during service.

  1. Bar service: quick, consistent pours — less wobble when carrying a tray of shots.
  2. Tastings: uniform size is handy for sampling flights or spirit tastings.
  3. Events: robust enough for pop-ups, festivals, and busy bartending shifts.

Storage tip: store upright and avoid tight stacking to protect rims and preserve clarity.

Dishwasher-safe for everyday cleaning — place on the top rack and use a normal household cycle. Repeated exposure to very high commercial temperatures can shorten glass life, so choose gentler programs where practical.

When you want to extend clarity and finish: hand-wash with warm water, a mild detergent, and a soft cloth; dry right away to avoid water spots. Handle by the body (not the rim) to reduce accidental chipping.

One size only: 1.5 oz (≈44.3 ml). Use the dimensions below for shelving, packaging, or tray planning.
