Flag of the Raj of Sarawak 1848 (Malaysia) Shot Glass 1.5oz

This shot glass shows the 1848 banner of the Raj of Sarawak, a bold yellow field crossed by a red and blue cross.

Visual Elements & Composition

Yellow covers most of the rectangle, giving the design its warm, ceremonial weight. A cross sits off-centre across that field, with one arm in dark red and the other in blue. The flat, geometric layout is simple enough to read at a glance, and the two colours of the cross are the only strong contrast on the banner.

Meaning & Symbolism

The flag was designed by James Brooke, the first White Rajah, and drawn from his family's coat of arms. The Raj of Sarawak was his personal kingdom on Borneo, and the banner was hoisted for the first time on 21 September 1848. It flew until 6 May 1870. The cross and the gold field speak to dynastic pride and sovereignty. Charles Brooke, the second Rajah, later changed the blue arm to black, so the design marks a shift in the state's own heraldry as well as the start of the Brooke line.

In the Hand of a Shot Glass

A shot glass is small and held close, so the flag is seen at close range, almost as a miniature standard. The cross lands near the centre of the view as the glass is lifted, and the yellow field catches the light. It makes a fitting souvenir for a home bar or a collection of Borneo history.

Compact, heavy-based shot glasses made from clear, restaurant-grade glass. One standard size (1.5 oz / ≈44.3 ml) — sturdy, stack-friendly, and built to handle frequent service without fuss.

These shot glasses feel solid in the hand thanks to a thick, weighty base that keeps them steady on busy bar tops. The walls are even and clear, giving a nice, unobstructed view of the pour; the rim is smoothed for comfortable sipping.

They’re engineered for regular use: consistent dimensions, dependable weight, and a simple silhouette that suits both casual venues and more formal tasting counters. Designed to perform rather than show off.

  • Material: 100% clear glass for pure clarity and clean presentation.
  • Capacity: 1.5 oz (≈44.3 ml) — standard shot measure.
  • Base: heavy solid glass base that reduces tipping and improves balance.
  • Construction: restaurant-grade durability for frequent handling and washing.
  • Print-ready: suitable for single-sided print applications that withstand typical use.

Perfect for quick pours, samplers, and neat shots. Their compact footprint makes them easy to place on trays and tasting lines, while the heavier base keeps things steady during service.

  1. Bar service: quick, consistent pours — less wobble when carrying a tray of shots.
  2. Tastings: uniform size is handy for sampling flights or spirit tastings.
  3. Events: robust enough for pop-ups, festivals, and busy bartending shifts.

Storage tip: store upright and avoid tight stacking to protect rims and preserve clarity.

Dishwasher-safe for everyday cleaning — place on the top rack and use a normal household cycle. Repeated exposure to very high commercial temperatures can shorten glass life, so choose gentler programs where practical.

When you want to extend clarity and finish: hand-wash with warm water, a mild detergent, and a soft cloth; dry right away to avoid water spots. Handle by the body (not the rim) to reduce accidental chipping.

One size only: 1.5 oz (≈44.3 ml). Use the dimensions below for shelving, packaging, or tray planning.
