Full Coat of Arms of the Straits Settlements Shot Glass Design

This shot glass showcases the full coat of arms of the Straits Settlements, a heraldic emblem rich with historical and symbolic meaning. The design is a vibrant representation of the former British Crown Colony encompassing Singapore, Penang, Malacca, and Dinding, used from 1911 until 1946.

The Shield and Its Quarters

The central element is the shield, meticulously divided into four distinct quarters, each representing a key component of the Straits Settlements:

  • Singapore (Top Left): A red field, known as "gules" in heraldry, forms the backdrop to a grey stone tower, atop which a golden lion, in the "passant guardant" pose, stands vigil. This strong imagery represents Singapore.
  • Penang (Top Right): A silver field, or "argent," displays a green areca nut palm tree upon a mound. This image directly refers to Penang's name origin from the Malay word for the areca nut palm.
  • Malacca (Bottom Left): Another silver field is emblazoned with a sprig of the keruing tree, a type of tropical hardwood. This represents the significance of Malacca.
  • Dinding (Bottom Right): A blue field, "azure," at the base showcases waves of the sea. Above these, a rising sun is positioned behind a mountain, with a sailing yacht in full sail. This quarter symbolizes the unique character of Dinding.

Crest and Motto

Above the shield, the crest features a demi-lion, mirroring the golden lion, in a "rampant guardant" pose, holding a staff. The staff bears a blue banner, displaying three golden imperial crowns. This symbolizes the relationship to the British Crown.

The motto "Onward," emblazoned beneath the shield, completes the visual storytelling, conveying a message of progress and determination.

The entire design serves as a powerful reminder of the historical significance and unique heritage of the Straits Settlements.

Compact, heavy-based shot glasses made from clear, restaurant-grade glass. One standard size (1.5 oz / ≈44.3 ml) — sturdy, stack-friendly, and built to handle frequent service without fuss.

These shot glasses feel solid in the hand thanks to a thick, weighty base that keeps them steady on busy bar tops. The walls are even and clear, giving a nice, unobstructed view of the pour; the rim is smoothed for comfortable sipping.

They’re engineered for regular use: consistent dimensions, dependable weight, and a simple silhouette that suits both casual venues and more formal tasting counters. Designed to perform rather than show off.

  • Material: 100% clear glass for pure clarity and clean presentation.
  • Capacity: 1.5 oz (≈44.3 ml) — standard shot measure.
  • Base: heavy solid glass base that reduces tipping and improves balance.
  • Construction: restaurant-grade durability for frequent handling and washing.
  • Print-ready: suitable for single-sided print applications that withstand typical use.

Perfect for quick pours, samplers, and neat shots. Their compact footprint makes them easy to place on trays and tasting lines, while the heavier base keeps things steady during service.

  1. Bar service: quick, consistent pours — less wobble when carrying a tray of shots.
  2. Tastings: uniform size is handy for sampling flights or spirit tastings.
  3. Events: robust enough for pop-ups, festivals, and busy bartending shifts.

Storage tip: store upright and avoid tight stacking to protect rims and preserve clarity.

Dishwasher-safe for everyday cleaning — place on the top rack and use a normal household cycle. Repeated exposure to very high commercial temperatures can shorten glass life, so choose gentler programs where practical.

When you want to extend clarity and finish: hand-wash with warm water, a mild detergent, and a soft cloth; dry right away to avoid water spots. Handle by the body (not the rim) to reduce accidental chipping.

One size only: 1.5 oz (≈44.3 ml). Use the dimensions below for shelving, packaging, or tray planning.
