Great coat of arms of Hungary (1849) - Frosted Pint Glass 16oz

This design shows the Hungarian arms as they stood during the revolutionary year of 1849, with a central shield surrounded by a ring of regional heraldic shields.

Visual Elements & Composition

White fills much of the field, with crimson red, blue, gold and forest green carrying the shields and the laurel wreath. The central Hungarian shield displays the double cross on a green hill, and the surrounding ring holds ten regional shields, including a checkerboard, a lion rampant, a stag or horse and a bird. A laurel wreath frames the group, and a ribbon band completes the layout. The flat vector style keeps each shield distinct, so the ring reads as a catalogue of the kingdom's lands.

Meaning & Symbolism

The arms were used by the revolutionary government during the Hungarian Revolution of 1848 to 1849, when the kingdom pressed for independence from the Habsburg monarchy. The double cross on the green hill and the Crown of Saint Stephen above the shield tie the new state to the older Hungarian crown. The Revolution was put down by Austrian and Russian forces, and the emblem survived as a symbol of that brief, determined struggle for self-government.

Where the Crest Meets the Glass

A pint glass has a tall, curved surface, so the shield and its ring of regional arms wrap around the vessel as the glass is turned in the hand. The print sits on the frosted face of the glass, so the crimson and blue hold their colour against the light, a fitting setting for an emblem of national resistance.

Frosted pint glass (16 oz / ≈0.47 L) with a soft matte finish and semi-translucent, one-sided print. Tough enough for bar and restaurant use, dishwasher safe, and BPA-free — a modern take on classic pintware.

These pints are mouth-blown-style glass finished with a satin frost that mutes glare and gives art a soft, tactile presence. The print sits atop the frosted surface to create a semi-see-through effect — the look subtly shifts depending on lighting and what's poured inside.

Because the print is slightly translucent, pale drinks let more light through and darker pours create stronger contrast. That interplay gives each serving a small visual surprise — useful in hospitality settings or retail displays where the drink and the glass play off each other.

  • Material: 100% glass with a matte, frosted finish for a low-reflective, premium feel.
  • Capacity: 16 oz (standard U.S. pint, ≈0.47 L).
  • Print: one-sided wraparound, semi-translucent finish that changes with light and liquid.
  • Care: dishwasher-safe for everyday service (see Care tab for tips).
  • Use cases: retail shelves, bar service, event glassware, or merch racks — suitable for single units or larger orders.

These glasses work well for chilled beers, craft pours, iced cocktails and cold brew — anywhere you want an elegant, understated presentation. The frosted surface hides minor fingerprints and softens the silhouette of the drink inside.

  1. Serve: fill with cold beverages; the semi-translucent print will interact with the drink color for subtle variation.
  2. Display: stack or line them on back bar shelving where soft lighting emphasizes the frosted texture.
  3. Stocking: sell individually or as a set; their neutral look fits many menu styles and venue aesthetics.

Tip: if you plan themed pours (pale ales, lagers, dark stouts), test a sample to see how each drink’s hue changes the printed artwork’s visibility.

Dishwasher-safe for routine cleaning — use a standard household cycle and avoid very high-heat commercial programs when possible. Placing glasses mouth-down on the rack reduces risk of chipping during wash cycles.

For best longevity, hand-wash with warm water and mild detergent and dry immediately with a lint-free cloth. Avoid abrasive scouring pads and harsh chemical cleaners that can dull the frosted finish or wear printed areas over time.
