This design takes a single alphanumeric code, L67b-AT, and sets it up as the whole subject, the way a road sign sets one instruction in front of the driver.
Visual Elements & Composition
Nothing competes with the code. The layout is direct and functional, with no decorative border, no illustration and no background motif pulling the eye away. The characters of L67b-AT dominate the surface, read left to right in one line, and the designation itself is the image. The result is plain and legible, closer to signage than to art.
Meaning & Symbolism
The name ties the code to Austria, and the title frames it as a road sign, so the design speaks the language of classification and wayfinding. Codes like this organise information so that anyone can find a specific item quickly, and the artwork honours that purpose by refusing to dress it up. It reads as a marker: a reference point for collectors, cataloguers and anyone who enjoys a well-ordered system.
Keeping the Code in Sight
A mug is held in the hand and turned slowly while you drink, so the design rotates past your eye with every sip. A line of characters like this one stays readable at that distance, and each turn brings the code back into view. It is a sensible, slightly cheeky companion for a morning brew, and a fitting choice for someone who likes their references clearly labelled.
