The Legislative Assembly of Tonga, also known as the Tongan Parliament, is the primary legislative body of governance in the Kingdom of Tonga. It consists of 26 elected members, known as People's Representatives, and 10 nobles, appointed by the Monarch. The assembly is responsible for making laws, debating national issues, and scrutinizing the government. Elections for the People's Representatives occur every four years, while the noble representatives remain in office for life. The Speaker of the House presides over the Assembly, ensuring orderly conduct of proceedings. This bicameral system, together with the Privy Council, forms the Tongan political structure.
