M template 1919 (Michigan) (Road Sign) Shot Glass 1.5oz

A black-and-white diamond route marker modelled on the state trunkline sign Michigan introduced in 1919, with a large M at its head.

Visual Elements & Composition

White fills the diamond field, and black forms the border and the lettering, which gives the artwork a strong, two-tone contrast. The diamond is double-outlined, a rotated square that reads as a highway sign at once. The capital M sits in the upper part of the shape, with the words STATE, TRUNK and LINE stacked in smaller capitals beneath it. The numerals 88 fill the lower field as a sample route number. Nothing else appears, so the diamond, the letter and the numerals carry the whole design.

Meaning & Symbolism

This is the blueprint for the state's earliest trunkline markers. Michigan began signposting its trunkline highway system in 1919, and the diamond with its M prefix was the standard form used for every M-designated route of that period. The blank numerals stand for the routes the template served, and the M-n designations that followed, such as M-17 or M-22. The design records the start of Michigan's numbered highway system and the visual identity it gave early motorists.

On the Shot Glass

A shot glass is held close, and a diamond marker reads well at that distance because its outline is so distinct. The black border sits crisply against the clear glass, and the white field keeps the lettering legible when the glass is picked up or set on a shelf. It is a fitting piece of transport history for a Michigan bar cart or a collection of vintage road signs.

Compact, heavy-based shot glasses made from clear, restaurant-grade glass. One standard size (1.5 oz / ≈44.3 ml) — sturdy, stack-friendly, and built to handle frequent service without fuss.

These shot glasses feel solid in the hand thanks to a thick, weighty base that keeps them steady on busy bar tops. The walls are even and clear, giving a nice, unobstructed view of the pour; the rim is smoothed for comfortable sipping.

They’re engineered for regular use: consistent dimensions, dependable weight, and a simple silhouette that suits both casual venues and more formal tasting counters. Designed to perform rather than show off.

  • Material: 100% clear glass for pure clarity and clean presentation.
  • Capacity: 1.5 oz (≈44.3 ml) — standard shot measure.
  • Base: heavy solid glass base that reduces tipping and improves balance.
  • Construction: restaurant-grade durability for frequent handling and washing.
  • Print-ready: suitable for single-sided print applications that withstand typical use.

Perfect for quick pours, samplers, and neat shots. Their compact footprint makes them easy to place on trays and tasting lines, while the heavier base keeps things steady during service.

  1. Bar service: quick, consistent pours — less wobble when carrying a tray of shots.
  2. Tastings: uniform size is handy for sampling flights or spirit tastings.
  3. Events: robust enough for pop-ups, festivals, and busy bartending shifts.

Storage tip: store upright and avoid tight stacking to protect rims and preserve clarity.

Dishwasher-safe for everyday cleaning — place on the top rack and use a normal household cycle. Repeated exposure to very high commercial temperatures can shorten glass life, so choose gentler programs where practical.

When you want to extend clarity and finish: hand-wash with warm water, a mild detergent, and a soft cloth; dry right away to avoid water spots. Handle by the body (not the rim) to reduce accidental chipping.

One size only: 1.5 oz (≈44.3 ml). Use the dimensions below for shelving, packaging, or tray planning.
