This design presents a pentagonal route marker carrying the letters MG and the number 176, rendered in black on white.
Visual Elements & Composition
White covers about four-fifths of the design, with black forming the pentagonal outline, an inner border and the lettering. The five-sided shape is the defining feature, set apart from the rounded shields used on national routes. MG appears above the numerals 176, and both sit squarely in the middle of the marker. There is no ornament or background, so the outline and the code do all the work.
Meaning & Symbolism
MG is the code for the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais, and the pentagon signals a state-level route rather than a federal highway. Reading the sign tells you both the road and the region it serves, a small piece of navigation that shows how Brazil's roads are organised by layers of government. The design treats that system as a quiet emblem of place and of the way people move through it.
Life on the Mug
A mug is turned in the hand, so the pentagon moves across the surface as you rotate it, its angled corners and inner border passing into view in turn. The black lettering holds its contrast against the white wall of the cup, and the compact five-sided form fits the curve neatly. It suits anyone who enjoys a bit of regional road-sign character with their morning coffee.
