Motor Life Station Bodega Bay (U.S. Coast Guard) The Motor Life Station Bodega Bay is a historic Coast Guard facility located in Bodega Bay, California. Originally established in 1938 to aid ships and boats in distress along the coast of Sonoma County, it operated as an active search and rescue station until its decommissioning in 1976. Notable for its distinctive octagonal design, this Motor Life Station is one of only three remaining in their original form out of a total of 30 built by the U.S. Coast Guard between 1928 and 1945. Today, it stands as a testament to the courage and service of the U.S. Coast Guard personnel who manned these stations for over half a century.
