PA-153 1948 (Pennsylvania) (Road Sign) Shot Glass 1.5oz

A Pennsylvania keystone route marker from 1948, flat black on white, carrying the number 153 and the state name PENNA.

Visual Elements & Composition

White fills most of the surface, and black is kept for the shield outline and the lettering. The keystone form is a shield with a flat top and sides that narrow toward a point, the same outline used across the state's route markers. The number 153 is the dominant mark, centred in the shield, with PENNA set in smaller capitals. There is no shading or ornament, so the shape and the two numerals do all the visual work.

Meaning & Symbolism

Route markers gave Pennsylvania's highways a numbering system that drivers could follow across towns and counties. Route 153 is one of the designations that filled out that network in the decades after the markers were introduced. The 1948 date places the sign in the post-war years, when road travel was growing fast and the shield had become a familiar part of the roadside. The design preserves the plain, functional language of that signage.

On the Shot Glass

A shot glass is small and lifted close to the eye, so the shield and its number sit directly in view as the glass is raised. The high black-and-white contrast stays readable at that distance, and the compact outline fits the glass's small footprint. It works as a conversation piece on a bar shelf or a cabin shelf, where the number and state name are usually the first things noticed.

Compact, heavy-based shot glasses made from clear, restaurant-grade glass. One standard size (1.5 oz / ≈44.3 ml) — sturdy, stack-friendly, and built to handle frequent service without fuss.

These shot glasses feel solid in the hand thanks to a thick, weighty base that keeps them steady on busy bar tops. The walls are even and clear, giving a nice, unobstructed view of the pour; the rim is smoothed for comfortable sipping.

They’re engineered for regular use: consistent dimensions, dependable weight, and a simple silhouette that suits both casual venues and more formal tasting counters. Designed to perform rather than show off.

  • Material: 100% clear glass for pure clarity and clean presentation.
  • Capacity: 1.5 oz (≈44.3 ml) — standard shot measure.
  • Base: heavy solid glass base that reduces tipping and improves balance.
  • Construction: restaurant-grade durability for frequent handling and washing.
  • Print-ready: suitable for single-sided print applications that withstand typical use.

Perfect for quick pours, samplers, and neat shots. Their compact footprint makes them easy to place on trays and tasting lines, while the heavier base keeps things steady during service.

  1. Bar service: quick, consistent pours — less wobble when carrying a tray of shots.
  2. Tastings: uniform size is handy for sampling flights or spirit tastings.
  3. Events: robust enough for pop-ups, festivals, and busy bartending shifts.

Storage tip: store upright and avoid tight stacking to protect rims and preserve clarity.

Dishwasher-safe for everyday cleaning — place on the top rack and use a normal household cycle. Repeated exposure to very high commercial temperatures can shorten glass life, so choose gentler programs where practical.

When you want to extend clarity and finish: hand-wash with warm water, a mild detergent, and a soft cloth; dry right away to avoid water spots. Handle by the body (not the rim) to reduce accidental chipping.

One size only: 1.5 oz (≈44.3 ml). Use the dimensions below for shelving, packaging, or tray planning.
