A plain pentagonal shield outline with the letters RJ and the number 79 turns a Brazilian state route marker into a quiet black-and-white emblem.
Visual Elements & Composition
The pentagon is the only shape on the surface, its black outline drawn cleanly around an open white centre. RJ sits above the numerals 79 in dark, evenly weighted lettering. White covers most of the field, with a faint light-grey tone at the edges, so the composition relies on negative space and the crisp geometry of the shield in a flat vector style.
Meaning & Symbolism
RJ is the standard abbreviation for Rio de Janeiro, one of Brazil's states, and 79 is the number of this state route. The shield form is the everyday language of Brazilian highways, telling a driver which road they are on with one glance. The design stands for that quiet infrastructure, the roads that connect the state's towns and countryside.
Reading the Shield on the Mug
A mug is turned in the hand, so the outline travels across the eye in a slow curve and the pentagon keeps its shape as the cup rotates. The simple layout and strong contrast keep the RJ and 79 easy to read from close range or across a desk.
