A double-outlined pentagonal badge carries the state code RJ and the route number 123, a Brazilian road marker distilled into flat black and white.
Visual Elements & Composition
The pentagon is drawn with a double outline, two black edges set close together so the badge has a firm frame. RJ sits above 123 in black lettering, centred inside the shape. White fills roughly four-fifths of the surface, with a small grey tone at the edges, and the layout is spare and symmetrical in a flat vector style.
Meaning & Symbolism
RJ is the standard abbreviation for Rio de Janeiro, one of Brazil's states, and 123 is the number of this route. Pentagonal shields are the familiar mark of state highways, and the design keeps the reduced vocabulary of that signage. It stands for the road network that carries traffic through the state, the routes drivers rely on without a second thought.
Reading the Badge on the Mug
A mug is turned in the hand, so the double outline sweeps across the eye as the cup moves and the two edges read as one firm shape from each side. The strong black-on-white contrast keeps the RJ and 123 legible at a glance, whether the mug is across the room or held close.
